Scoutmaster's Message:
Troop 89 is an award-winning Troop that closely follows the Patrol Method, relies on Scout leadership, and has an active Camping program.

Troop 89 has been meeting at St. Louis Catholic Church for over 50 years. As a medium–sized Troop with about 38 Scouts, we currently operate one high school patrol, one middle school patrol, and two new scout patrols. Our Webelos crossovers make up new Scout patrols in the Spring. Our Troop is very active in the Capitol Area Council. We support Webelos Woods, compete in Camporee, and attend Lost Pines Summer Camp. We support National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT, a.k.a. Silver Pines) and send scouts as often as possible.

Camporee 2006: Scouts Earned the most Innovative Gateway award!
Summer Camp 2007: Troop 89 participated in summer camp at Lost Pines in Bastrop.
Summer Camp 2008: Troop 89 won Top Troop at Lost Pines in Bastrop
Summer Camp 2009: Troop 89 won Mr. Mac Super Troop at Lost Pines in Bastrop
Camporee 2010: All patrols won at least one event.
Camporee 2011: New patrol won Picnic event, scout won bikathlon.
High Adventure: Spring 2008, we went to Big Bend, backpacked and hiked for three days. In summer of 2009 and 2011, we visited Philmont.
Camping Program: In the coming months, we will watch a meteor shower, go hiking, biking, fishing, and backpacking.

Non–Camping Program: In the coming months, we will visit the Scouting museum and the Lexington.

Eagle progress: Four Scouts made Eagle in 2005, three in 2006, two in 2008, and two in 2010. We currently have seven Life scouts working on Eagle.
